BUILT FROM A PASSION FOR BMWs
VANOS Rebuild Kits was founded in 2026 by Justin Schaub as a specialized offshoot of Race German, the BMW parts company he started in 2020.
But the story behind VANOS Rebuild Kits started long before that.
Justin attended school for Aviation Technologies and earned his FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license in 2010. He began his career in the aviation industry working hands-on as a jet engine mechanic before moving into quality inspection for a private jet manufacturer.
From there, his career progressed into quality engineering and manufacturing engineering roles with some of the world's leading Fortune 500 companies.
That background in aviation, quality control, manufacturing, and engineering would eventually become an important part of how Justin approached developing parts for BMWs.
FROM AVIATION TO BMWs
BMWs have always been one of Justin's biggest passions.
Over the years, he has owned more than 100 BMWs, ranging from daily drivers and project cars to dedicated track cars. His passion eventually took him to racetracks throughout the Southeast, where he spent time driving and developing his BMW E30 and E36 M3.
For Justin, working on BMWs was never just about replacing parts. It was about understanding how they worked, why they failed, and how they could be improved.
When COVID arrived in 2020, Justin decided it was time to take that passion and build something of his own.
He founded Race German, a BMW-focused parts company built around providing enthusiasts with carefully selected parts that he would actually use on his own cars.
THE FIRST VANOS REBUILD KIT
In 2021, Justin set out to develop a VANOS rebuild kit that combined high-quality components, proper fitment, and competitive pricing.
There were already VANOS rebuild kits available, but Justin believed there was room to build something better.
Using his background in quality and manufacturing engineering, he focused on the details that matter: material selection, tolerances, fitment, durability, and consistency.
The kits quickly became one of Race German's most popular products.
Since 2021, more than 5,000 of our VANOS rebuild kits have been sold to BMW owners and repair shops around the world. The kits have grown beyond Race German and are now also offered through some of the largest BMW parts resellers on the internet.
WHY VANOS REBUILD KITS?
By 2026, the VANOS product line had grown enough that Justin believed it deserved a home of its own.
That's how VANOS Rebuild Kits was created.
Rather than being another general BMW parts website, VANOS Rebuild Kits is focused specifically on the parts needed to repair, rebuild, and service BMW VANOS systems.
Our goal is simple:

As inexpensive rebuild kits and knockoffs became increasingly common online, Justin wanted to understand exactly how they compared.
So he bought them.
Competitor kits, inexpensive kits, and lower-priced alternatives were purchased and evaluated so that we could compare their materials, construction, fitment, and overall quality against our own products.
That research continues to influence how our kits are developed today.
A VANOS rebuild isn't a job most BMW owners want to do twice. Saving a few dollars on inexpensive internal components doesn't mean much if those components don't fit correctly or hold up over time.
