Unlike bare steel vise jaws, these pads are made from tough, non-marring nylon to help prevent scratches, gouges, and other damage to precision-machined VANOS components.

Certain steps of a VANOS rebuild require components to be held securely while hardware is removed, installed, or adjusted. Clamping a VANOS piston directly in steel vise jaws can easily damage the machined surface.
