Restore proper Dual VANOS operation with a replacement BMW Camshaft Adjuster / VANOS Solenoid. This solenoid controls engine oil flow within the VANOS system, allowing the engine management system to adjust camshaft timing for the best combination of torque, power, fuel efficiency, and drivability throughout the RPM range.

The solenoid threads into the front of the cylinder head and controls pressurized engine oil used to position the camshaft through the VANOS system. Over time, the internal passages can become contaminated or clogged, or the electrical portion of the solenoid can fail. What Does the VANOS Solenoid Do?

BMW's M52TU and M54 engines use a Dual VANOS system, allowing the engine management system to continuously adjust both intake and exhaust camshaft timing.

The VANOS system relies on pressurized engine oil to move the camshaft adjustment mechanisms. The VANOS solenoids act as electronically controlled oil valves, regulating oil flow according to commands from the engine computer.

By continuously adjusting camshaft timing, the system helps optimize:

• High-RPM performance
