BMW M50 / M52 / M54 Valve Cover Grommet Kit — Set of 15
Properly reseal your BMW valve cover with our 15-Piece Valve Cover Grommet Kit, designed for BMW M50, M50TU, M52, M52TU, and M54 inline-six engines.
These high-quality rubber sealing grommets are installed underneath the valve cover cap nuts and provide the sealing pressure needed to properly secure the valve cover against the cylinder head. While they're easy to overlook during a valve cover gasket replacement, they're an important part of achieving a leak-free repair.
After years of engine heat and repeated heat cycles, the original rubber grommets become hard, flattened, brittle, and cracked. Once this happens, they can no longer provide the proper sealing pressure against the valve cover, potentially contributing to oil leaks even after installing a new valve cover gasket.
We recommend replacing the valve cover grommets any time the valve cover is removed, especially when performing a valve cover gasket replacement or VANOS service.
Kit Includes
- 15 High-Quality Rubber Valve Cover Grommets
- Complete quantity needed for one engine
- Installs underneath the factory valve cover cap nuts
- Direct replacement for the original rubber grommets
Replaces BMW Part Numbers

Why Replace the Valve Cover Grommets?
The valve cover cap nuts themselves only provide part of the clamping system. The rubber grommets underneath the nuts help distribute pressure and maintain the proper sealing force on the valve cover.
As the original rubber ages, it loses elasticity and becomes permanently compressed. Even if the grommets aren't visibly cracked, decades-old rubber may no longer provide the clamping pressure it did when new.
Common signs of worn valve cover grommets can include:
- Oil seepage around the valve cover
- Oil around the valve cover cap nuts
- Persistent leaks after valve cover gasket replacement
- Hard or brittle rubber
- Cracked grommets
- Flattened or permanently compressed grommets
Replacing all 15 while the valve cover is already apart is inexpensive preventative maintenance.
Perfect for VANOS & Valve Cover Service
Removing the valve cover is required for many BMW VANOS and timing repairs. If you're already replacing the valve cover gasket, rebuilding your VANOS, or performing other cylinder head work, this is the perfect time to replace the grommets as well.
Installing a fresh gasket but reusing decades-old, hardened grommets can compromise the repair. Replacing both gives the valve cover sealing system a proper refresh.
Fitment Guide
This 15-piece grommet kit fits a wide range of BMW models equipped with M50, M50TU, M52, M52TU, and M54 inline-six engines.
